Predicted trends for spring/summer 2019

With the spring/summer 2019 collections hot off the runways, i have been noticing a few clear trends surfacing. When there are clear trends on the runways, we will all be adopting these trends into our wardrobes, and should get ready for what will be our summer looks.

The first noticeable trend was the extravagant evening wear and dresses. Frills are back with vengeance, and more is defiantly more. This is not the season for the minimalist, with no holding back on colours, layers and overall statement. It seems that designers have been inspired by historic regal glamour, and given it a twenty first century re vamp.

Tie dye has come and gone a few times, however its been too long in my opinion, and i am glad to see it back and better than ever. The classic Hippie print was seen all over the runways and is giving collections a relaxed, carefree and fun feel. The print and how we are associating it is perfect and different for our summer wardrobes.

Much like with the frills and layers, all the trimmings particularly feathers have been huge on the runways. Designers cant seem to get enough of Feathers, and it seems as though there cant be to much in a single outfit. Feathers where seen in history as a sign of luxury, class and glamour, but also as a kind of provocative sexy accessory. Feathers have represented a few contradicting styles, but now they have come back to life and are encompassing all of  their meanings in crazy and completely 'extra' garments.

Despite all the trimmings, colours, and the more is more approach seen on the runways, there is always room for the simple and understated. Beige  and neutrals gave the runways the understated and classy aspect we still crave in each season. The colours sometimes more accosiated with autumn/winter have managed to creep into spring/summer, but it works. Dressing simply can be a statement in itself, and often gives the impression of quiet confidence. These caramel/fleshy tones are exactly what we need for the days we are just not feeling as daring as feathers and ruffles, but still want a strong look.
