This Trend is seeing art in fashion becoming more mainstream than ever before. Bloggers and celebrities have been filling our social media feeds by wearing this simplistic illustrative style. From knitwear to outwear, to dresses this print seems to have no limits.
Personally i love this trend and have been following it from the start. I think that it is the fact that it is understated in its aesthetic, and a statement in the artistic look at the same time. I am really supportive of Art styles moving into fashion. Art is a great form of expression and interesting visuals, and so is fashion and so i believe that it is about time they started to combine more often.
Simplistic sketches and line art has been used by a style used by many artists. One of the styles of these simplistic illustrations that are most famous and similar to the ones we are seeing on our garments, are the works of Pablo Picasso.
The trend also reminded me of the unique and playful designs of Edda Gimnes. Her playful artistic garments are different and refreshing. Her messy, drawn-on style brings the idea of the more abstract art, into fashion form. Abstract art has no limitations, Gimne's work has translated this onto the limitations of a garment. The garment is like the canvas, and the fashion shows are like the art exhibitions.

The simple illustration trend has spread beyond just garments, and across the broader fashion landscape.

This sometimes cheeky and playful trend is perfect for the current minimalist/all grey/hipster aesthetic trend taking over. Due to how well it fits in, and how popular it has remained over the past few years, i don't see this trend going away soon.
