Ancient Greek revival ?
While at the MET in NYC, i was also majorly drawn to the Greek Art section, and the museums extensive collection of classic sculptures and architecture.

The ancient Greeks became known for their perfectionism in art, giving their style of art the name 'severe style'. I loved the accuracy in proportions, and the clear skill and craftsmanship it took to create these pieces.

I particularly love the fascination that the Greeks had with the human form, and the time and precision that was clearly taken to present all the curves and lines that make up the human body.

Although the Greeks are known for their accuracy, their is defiantly a lack of minute detail in the sculptures, and a larger focus of the accuracy of the overall form. I love the romantic vibe that the lack of detail, and smoothed out shapes give the pieces.
The fact that these once perfect sculptures are now standing in the museum with missing chunks and other damage from time, is a great juxtaposition, and in my opinion gives a whole new depth of beauty to the original pieces.
I tried to think about why i was so drawn to the Greek art, and why i felt like such a classical piece of art was still very modern and fashionable. I then started to see how the perfect and in some ways simple style of the art, and the fascination with the human face and form, was reminiscent of the very current simplistic face on fashion style.

I have also noticed that more specifically Ancient Greek art has started to be used in fashion, and being a lover of art integrating into fashion, i personally love this up and coming trend.
