Bright and Bold in the MET
The Met in New York holds one of the largest, and most impressive famous art collections in the world. The variety of different styles from different eras is beyond amazing, and i was understandably looking forward to being able to see some of these pieces in real life.

With the museum being so massive, we had to be selective with which parts we saw. We spent a lot of time in the Modern Art area, of which their where three floors. Looking at modern Art spanned across decades, and being able to see works from artists like Picasso in the flesh, was such a great experience.

I quickly noticed a clear differentiating theme in many of the modern art pieces which was the use of bright and bold colours and styles. Bright and Bold being my theme for my summative brief, perhaps i was more likely to notice this theme, never the less it gave me lots of inspiration.

I could see that the Bright and Bold theme has been prevalent in not just eras of fashion, but areas of art also. Some of the more classical art pieces where darker, and more realistic. It seemed as though modern art as a whole wanted to move away from realism, and enhance colours to their full bright potential.

The overall feel of the Modern art pieces in comparison with the more traditional classical pieces, was a happier, more fun and free form of art, that was more a way of self expression than anything else. Each piece felt like it was competing against one another to pop off the canvas and make a statement, a theme continued into the aim of the Bright and Bold trend within fashion.
