Summative Brief review
For my first summative brief in my degree course i was given three main features; the theme, bright and bold, the brand dr. Martens, and the type of marketing tool, event. From these thee features i had to research all of them individually, and them combine them to come up with an event for the brand, incorporating the bright and bold theme.

My initial reaction to each of the features was different. Bright and bold was a theme i was quite happy with. I like to keep track of whats new on the runways, and had been noticing a lot of colour, and bold out going designs, which are both things i accosiated with the theme.
My reaction to the brand dr. Martens was not so great, as it is a brand that i haven't ever purchased from or even looked to purchase from. I didn't know a lot about the brand, however i knew the overall aesthetic was not my personal style, and didn't seem bright, although it did seem bold, as from what i knew wearing the big boots was some what of a statement.
The event part of my brief was a part i was quite looking forward to. I am interested in the kind of PR and events organizing side of the industry, and like to keep track on new developments and ideas in this area. Therefore i felt like i could find some good ideas and inspiration for this part of the brief. I did get a little confused when researching types of events about the differentiation between some of them, and found it difficult at first to make a clear distinction between different types of parties..etc.
The context stage actually taught me a lot about the theme and the brand that i didn't realise. I learnt the most from my research into dr. Martens, which i knew the least about. The brand is a very big trademark in fashion history, and i defiantly became a lot more intrigued and excited in my brand within this process.
As always i seem to find the initial ideas stage the hardest, and this was no exception. I often come up with one strong initial idea, and then struggle to move away from it and come up with alternatives. Although it was difficult i did manage to do this in both the initial ideas stage, and the three potential outcomes stage.
In the outcomes stage, i was pleased that i managed to branch out from the initial strong idea of what my event would look like, and come up with alternatives, as it was one of these alternative ideas that i ended up choosing as my final outcome.
I think that although it was hard at times to push myself to come up with new innovative ideas, it was a good leaning experience. I hope that my final idea is interesting enough to be considered to be a successful one. Next time i would like to continue to push my ideas further, think outside of the box, and not be restricted in the initial ideas phase by practicalities. Also to come up with as many ideas as possible and think about the details after.
